I really like Dan Leonards 'style' working - thick black lines, etc. and the fact that you know its a person but it doesn't necessarily look like a person. I think his colour pallettes and textures used add a visual appeal to the drawings and the fact that he doesn't always use skin tone colour or detailed backgrounds - this is something I will take inspiration from for my design practice.
Although I'm not particularly strong at character design and 'making things up', I think this style is suited to a male audience; it can be gross and humorous.
